School scholarships, distribution of uniforms and supplies

Terre d'Enfants supports the education of children from extremely disadvantaged families in Nepal. The financial situation of beneficiary families is assessed biannually. A small contract is signed with each family, determining each family's rights and obligations and setting the amount of a contribution, even if it is only nominal.

The school grant covers: registration fees, marking fees, school supplies, uniforms, a small amount of food, possible tutoring, as well as basic hygiene products. Regular monitoring is organized with school principals to ensure student attendance and identify any potential difficulties.
Terre d'Enfants' commitment to these families and children is long-term: schooling lasts 12 years. A full year of schooling costs 320 euros.

On site, our relay association "Aniko" ensures the implementation of the projects.

Aniko regularly welcomes volunteers - if you are interested, contact us!

Special Education Center

This project is implemented by our partner association "Sathi Sansar".

The center welcomes around twenty children with cerebral palsy (CP) every day. They receive care and specialized education from a team of Nepalese educators.

Sathi Sansar also provides home support to over a hundred children. This involves raising awareness about disabilities among families and village communities and providing basic equipment, such as a chair with straps, mattresses, wheelchairs, walking aids, etc.

Sathi Sansar also provides support to children with disabilities in schools.

Finally, Sathi Sansar supports local initiatives to create day centers for children with cerebral palsy.

Sathi Sansar regularly welcomes healthcare professional volunteers. If you are interested, please contact us!

Renovation of schools and housing

Following the 2015 earthquake, we began (via Aniko) renovating damaged schools. Since then, we have funded the repair of roofs and walls for schools located in rural areas or in mid-mountain areas every year. Each project is based on a partnership with the local community: we provide the materials, and the local community provides the labor, whenever possible.

We also assist families in difficulty with their kitchen renovation or construction projects, or even latrines.

Professional training

We offer (via Aniko) vocational training to young adults to equip them with the skills they need to secure stable employment. These programs promote financial independence and contribute to the sustainable development of communities.

The financing of these training courses includes a micro-credit component, with repayment within 3 to 5 years of the end of the training.

Microcredits

Terre d'Enfants sets up (via Aniko) micro-credit initiatives for disadvantaged families to enable them to launch or develop an income-generating activity.
These loans, of a small amount and with advantageous conditions, give beneficiaries the means to meet the essential needs of their household, to finance the education of their children and to improve their living conditions in the long term... This could be the purchase of a sewing machine, raising a few dozen chickens, etc.
